So, I’ve decided to start a new series - One Animal Every Weekend - where I’ll be drawing whatever animal you see fit, every weekend, for your viewing pleasure!

Place a comment below to suggest an animal, the series will start as soon as someone picks the first animal.

If you have an idea for a new “scale” let me know and I’ll draw it up.

One of the things I find most important about interface design, at an early stage, is to present an extremely polished look, as realistic as possible.

Labeled colored rectangles are fine for the first iterations or if you’re discussing layouts amongst developers, but a fully finished GUI, with realistic controls and color schemes will - even if it’s only a mockup - let your ideas come across much easily to your clients and/or GUI reviewers.

When it comes to designing mockups for iPhone application, given the unique nature of the user controls and GUI elements, producing realistic results without resorting to Apple’s Interface Builder was nearly impossible… until now,

The guys over at Teehan+lax have put together a nice PSD file with the GUI elements needed to produce quality mockups for iphone applications, and they’re making it available to the community.

Here’s the link to the original post, on their blog - you’ll find a download link there:

http://www.teehanlax.com/blog/?p=447

Keep checking it back for updates.

Over the coming weeks I expect to share some of my insights on Technology, Interfaces and Usability, and whatever else I deem worthy.

This default interface doesn’t really work, does it? I’ll have to do something about that as well!

Until then, have a look at some of the sites on my blog roll.
